Alice Springs

On Thursday we packed up the campsite and started driving to Alice Springs Discovery Park. On the drive we went on a walk, it was called Serpentine Gorge. On the walk we saw a waterhole and a lookout. At the waterhole there was  a big part of land that you stood on, a huge waterhole and the prehistoric trees that we saw at Kings Canyon. Next we walked to the lookout and saw the most amazing view in Central Australia (according to sign). Soon we were back in the car and we drove the rest of the way to Alice Springs Discovery Park. When we arrived we set up the camp trailer and set up mine and Mia’s tent for the first time on this trip. Next we went down to the camp kitchen and cooked dinner and went to bed.

On Friday we had breakfast down at the camp kitchen and watched Tv for the first time on this trip. Next we went to Alice Springs Reptile Park and had a look at the reptiles. There was Perentie, yellow tail whip snake, black headed python, western brown, northern blue tongue lizard, thorny devil, centrilian carpet python, Stimson python, saltwater crocodile and a lot more reptiles. Next we went over to the gecko cave and watched a show. I got to hold a northern blue tongue lizard, and pat a olive python and a bearded dragon. After the show we saw lots of geckos. There was geckos with big heads and small tails, there were geckos with big heads and big tails, small heads and big tails and geckos with small heads and small tails. Next we walked across the road to the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Once we had signed in we walked into a row of seats and watched a hologram. In the hologram it said that the Royal Flying Doctor Service all started out as a dream of John Flynn’s, but about 6 months later they got a QANTAS plane down to the ground and said they would pay 50 pounds ($96.59) every 30 kilometres to Qantas. So for the first time the Royal Flying Doctor Service was in the air. Next we got to go in a model of the latest Royal Flying Doctor Service plane. Soon we went back to the campsite and had dinner.

On Saturday we went to the National Road Transport Hall Of Fame. Once we had booked in we walked into a room that had a hole lot of machines that they used to make the original railway for the Old Ghan. There were some shovel ploughs that were used to be pulled by camels. Next we walked out into a room full of old cars the cars were from 1907-2006. Dad found the same car as his lego technic model. Soon we walked out and had a look at some old cars and trailers. There was a trailer that had eight wheels and Mum said that it would cost a lot to take it into the tip. There was also a car that had been completely redesigned so it could drive in the desert in the areas that needed 4WD cars to drive through. It used to have a bar connecting it to another of the same car. It still had a seat up on the roof and a gps. It was designed for someone to sit up there and tell the others what was coming up. Soon we went into the Kenworth truck room. It had a lot of road trains the latest truck that was in there was released in 2015. Next we left and went back to the camp trailer.

Soon it was time to go to the camel rides. We walked down to reception to get collected by the bus. The bus took us to the camel farm. When we arrived we got out and walked over to a step and hopped onto the camels back. Soon we slowly started to move along the track. The track took us out of the farm, along the side of the road and into White Gum Station. When we entered White Gum Station they told us our camels names and about their life. Mine and Mums camel was named Shadow, he used to be a racing camel but now is the laziest camel they have. In White Gum Station they took us past cattle and through empty fields. At the end of the ride they took us back and we went to sleep.

On Sunday we went to Alice Springs Market, there was not much there so we decided to go to the Telegraph station. At the telegraph station me and Mia did a quiz to find different parts of information like who were the six Bradshor children? Dad found out that Alice Springs was actually called Alice Depression. We got all the answers correct so we got an icy pole. After we had been to the telegraph station we went back to the campsite and had dinner.
