Perth (20/11/2023 – 26/11/2023)

On my birthday I woke up and opened my presents. I got a tackle bag with lots of tackle, gloves and pliers, a frizbee, a kite and a glider. We had pancakes for breakfast. On the way to Fremantle we stopped at the Pinnacles which is a park we drove through with lots of moulds of rocks. We then went to Lancelin sand dunes to do some sand boarding. We hired sandboards and walked up the big dunes. We found a spot to practise. At first it was super tricky to stay on it but then I got better at it. All of us had lots of falls and it was very fun. After the sand dunes we drove to Fremantle.

On the first day we went to Perth Zoo. When we arrived we started to see all of the animals. The enclosures were amazing. There was lots of things for the animals to do. The Monkeys chased each other around their cage and the other animals lay in the shade. At the end we got an ice cream and went back.

The next day we went to Fremantle prison and learned lots about the convicts. We also got told a story about a huge escape. When the prisoners were doing their work one of them took out one of the guards and escaped to America. When he saved enough money to buy a ship he hired a captain and setout to rescue his friends that were still imprisoned. On Easter Day the prisoners managed to make a run for it and got to the boat and left but soon after they left shore the police fired at them with there cannon and threatened that if they didn’t hand over the prisoners they would sink there boat. The captain claimed that they were whalers from America sailing on international waters and if they sunk there ship that they would be starting a war against America. So the Police went back to shore and they escaped to America.

After the prison we went to Cuppachino strip. Cuppachino strip is a very famous street in Fremantle. It is famous for all of the restaurants, cafes and shops. We walked up and down the path looking at all of the shops and then went back to the car.

The next day we went to Rottness Island on the ferry. When we arrived we got a ticket for the bus and started walking to the bus stop. On the way we saw a Quokka eating. On Rottness Island we did lots of snorkeling. We saw lots of fish and practiced our diving with a snorkel and flippers. After snorkeling we went to have a selfie with a Quokka then we went to the brewery to have a lemonade. While we were getting ready to get back onto the ferry a Quokka tried to get into the esky to eat the food so Mum had to pull the esky away and it had it claws dug into the bag.

The next day we went to Fremantle Market, we bought lots of biltong and jerky and even a big cinnamon donut. After Fremantle Market we went to Twin Fin fish and chip shop. We had big meals and then went down to the see all of the big boats.

The next day we went to Kings Park. In Kings park we saw lots of plants and trees. We saw a big Boab tree that had been transported from northern WA on a road train. After the Boab we went and got ice cream and sat on the grass. Next we went to get our books and lay down next to the fountain and read.

Isaac, what an exciting time you have been having! More snorkeling and “surfing “ on sand looks great fun – not sure if I could do it though. It sounds as though you had a good time on your birthday which is great. Love Aunty Kate x
