On Friday we drove to Dundee Beach and set up the camp trailer. The toilets were strange because they were inside a water tank. The door handle was a fishing hand reel and the toilet paper holder was a cut up fishing rod. We had dinner and went to bed.
On Saturday we got up at 6:00am got dressed, had breakfast and drove to Dundee Beach Boat ramp to meet a fishing charter. When we arrived Me, Mia and Mum climbed up the ladder next to the motor and sat in the boat with the fishing charter. The fishing charter guide asked Dad if he could reverse the trailer down the boat ramp because the driver had not come. Then he said his name was Steve. Once we were in the water we drove out to the mouth of a river and Steve showed us how to fish with lures because lures were the best thing that you can catch Barramundi on. The drive over to the mouth of the river was super cold it was at least 18 degrees. We saw 5 crocodiles lying on the bank. We were catching nothing, not even getting bites so we went to another river mouth. On the way I kept on getting splashed by the waves hitting the side of the boat. We stopped at the mouth and got out the fishing rods. Steve casted out our rods and he started driving slowly down the river. He told us to keep pulling on the rod every now and then and leave the line in the water. This is called trawling. I had never done this type of fishing before. I found it quite simple. We reached part way down the river and we reeled our rods in and turned around then we casted the rods out again, then started driving down towards the mouth of the river. According to the fish finder there was a bull shark following the bottom of the boat so that when we would reel in the fish the shark would eat the fish before they made it into the boat. Suddenly a Barramundi pulled on my line and jumped out of the water and then spat the lure and dived back in again. Steve said it was at least 70 centermetres long. Next we turned into a little cove in the river and had lunch. After lunch we drove out of the cove and another person on a different boat caught a Cat Fish. Then we went back to where the Barra that tried to eat the lure so we could try and catch it but nothing happened. Our time was running out and soon it would be low tide then we would not be able to get back. When we got back to the boat ramp Dad got out and started reversing the trailer. Steve kept on questioning if Dad was able to reverse boat trailers that big. When we got up to the top of the boat ramp we got out of the boat and went to the restaurant to get cold drinks because it was boiling hot out in the boat. Eventually when we arrived back at camp, we had dinner and went to bed.
