At Pender Bay escape we spent lots of time fishing, playing and reading. At the campsite we had an amazing view of the beach, red cliffs and a very blue ocean. We were camping on a cliff running down to the sand. On the first day me and mia built a huge network of castles and then we all went fishing. When we were fishing Dad caught a Trevally, Mia caught a black bream and I hooked the biggest fish I ever had but it bit through the leader before I had a chance to reel it in. The next day me and Mia finally finished our castle network and we went fishing in the afternoon. When we were fishing Mia caught a Whiting and a big fish kept on playing with me and Dad’s bait. The big fish nearly pulled Dad’s rod into the water but he just saved it by a heroic dive. When we got back we had Dad’s Trevally and Mia’s Whiting for lunch with some salad.

After we stayed at Pender Bay Escape we stayed at a bush camp called Neem. When we arrived a man named Bob showed us where the bike shed was so that we could ride the bikes for the first time in three months and then we went out onto the reef at low tide to go fishing. I caught a big fish that kept on pulling out so loud it sounded like the reel was screaming but the hook came out of its mouth and I kept all of the line including the hook and sinker. The next day we went on a cultural experience tour with a Lady named Mena. Mena told us all about the different bush foods and we got to pick some and eat them. She also told us about when she was little (the stolen generation). When we got down to the creek we found some shells and started walking back. We went out into the mangroves to find little creatures that live in shells that they use for fishing bait. When we got back Mena showed us how to weave sun flowers and a wreath. Then we went out in the back of the ute to collect some bush medicine for our itchy bites. While we were collecting bush medicine Mum and Dad found a scorpion behind the wheel chock of the trailer. When we got back Mia combed Dad’s beard so he looked like a gnome.
