Kalgoorlie (9/12/2023 – 10/12/2023)

At Kalgoorlie we went to Hannans north tourist mine. When we were there we got to go into a big mining truck and a big mining digger. After the trucks we went to see them do a gold pouring display. They molded the gold into a bar and then used special tongs to put it into the big bucket of water. Gold melts at 380 degrees celius. After the gold pouring display we did some gold panning but we didn’t find anything. After the gold mine we went to the super pit. The super pit is an extremely big hole that they use to mine gold. We sat there for a while watching all of the trucks drive up to the top with all of the rocks and gold. They had 4 trucks that were different to the rest. One was blue, one was black, one was pink and one had some indigenous artwork of a lizard. The super pit was amazingly huge but it felt sad to look at how much destruction it would have caused to nature.

Oh my goodness! The trucks certainly made you and Mia look very little! Imagine changing a flat tyres in one of those trucks!!! It would have been fascinating to visit but I agree with you about the impact on the environment – it certainly is an amazing place and even the colours of the earth come through in the photo.
    Love Aunty Kate xx

Changing a flat tyre or even replacing a flat tyre would be a very bad job. My favourite part of kalgoorlie was the museum
